Office Technologies: Certificate

Program Mission
The mission of the Office Technology Certificate program is to prepare students for administrative careers that require a solid foundation in information technology such as business application specialist, keyboard specialist, social media manager, graphic design application specialist, web content editor, through the use of innovative teaching methods, diverse modes of instruction, flexibility of course selections, and the inclusion of 21st century workplace skills.
Program Learning Outcomes
  1. Communicate effectively in business settings using communication technologies.
  2. Collaborate in a project environment utilizing teamwork skills such as creative problem solving, conflict resolution, and diversity awareness.
  3. Utilize technology to acquire, process and manage information for effective decision making.
  4. Demonstrate mastery of discipline-specific skills in office technology including the use of office applications to solve business problems and support business processes.

The Office Technology program allows students to combine core office technology skills with business or additional computing skills. It prepares students for careers as administrative assistants, secretaries, computer application specialists or program coordinators, or for civil service office positions.

SUNY Broome is now making it easier than ever to get the skills you need so you can get the job you want. Courses in our valuable Office Technologies Certificate are offered fully online, on campus, hyflex (choose your modality), and in shortened 7 week formats.

The Office Technologies Certificate program prepares students for administrative careers that require a solid foundation in information technology such as business application specialist, keyboard specialist, social media manager, graphic design application specialist, or web content editor.  Students have flexibility to design a program that will best meet their needs whether just starting out or retooling for a new career.  Students can apply the 30 credits earned toward an AAS degree in Business Information Management.

Sequence of Courses

This model is a one-year course schedule for students pursuing full-time study. Schedules will be redesigned for those requiring preparatory courses or those deciding to pursue part-time study.
