Accreditation is a process of validation in which colleges and universities are evaluated to ensure certain standards are upheld by the institution. The federal government requires that an institution be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization in order for its students to be eligible to receive financial aid.

The Health Information Tech/Medical Records accreditor of SUNY Broome Community College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
